JVH participates in Black Shirt Day and other notes

Here are notes sent home to families today:

Tomorrow, we will be participating in Black Shirt Day.  This is a very new initiative to raise awareness about Racism.  We only just learned about it, but I have attached a poster with a bit more information for you.   We are passionate at JVH about addressing inequity, racism, and any form of discrimination.

Wanting to let you know that the Facilities Meeting (where our Superintendent, Director of Finance and other district staff meet with parents and community members connected to the Kaslo Family of Schools to discuss the state of our facilities, budget considerations and dreams) will be coming up February 16th at 5:30 PM by Zoom.

As you know, the PAC meeting had to be rescheduled due to the power outage.  I encourage parents and guardians to join our hard-working PAC – not only do they make an important difference at our school, they are your voice at the local and district level.  We all want things to shift, get better, bring more opportunity for our kids, and PAC is a brilliant way to help that happen.

We are already talking about next year!  Part of that is staffing, and staffing is based on enrollment – this is where you come in – we need to know who will be here next year.  Please, if you are thinking of changing schools, let us know.  And spread the word to families who will be registering for next year to do it as soon as possible!  Kindergarten registration is already open.  https://www.sd8.bc.ca/schools/registration-transfers

Elementary report cards will be coming out early next week.  We were delayed due to the power outage.

We are still asking all parents to do the Daily Health Check. https://www.sd8.bc.ca/sites/default/files/2020.09.17%20-%20Daily%20Health%20Check%20%281%29%20%281%29.pdf
