Thank you Kaslo Food Hub!
Community collaboration increases youth supports
JVH is incredibly grateful for the generous donation from the Kaslo Food Hub. The Kaslo Food Hub has been collaborating with J. V. Humphries school for years in a variety of ways. Our kids help with picking fruit that goes to the Food Hub, baking for the Christmas hampers, volunteering there etc., and the Food Hub has contributed many donations of food items, which has been very helpful in providing the thousands of meals and snacks we make for our kids each year. JVH staff support all students who are in need of food on a daily basis. Our staff and students are dedicated to various food programs, specifically the foods class who make hot lunches for the students, the lunch bag program, and the Student Parliament run Breakfast Club. In January, we were approached by the Kaslo Food Hub staff about a grant opportunity through Community Food Centres Canada. Erin Carr, the NKLCSS Food Cupboard Coordinator, did the work and in now we have over $4000 worth of dry goods that will last us two full years. We are so grateful for the thought, effort, and hard work the staff at the Food Hub have made to support the students at JVH. We thank you and the students thank you.
