Case Manager & Learning Support Teacher

kare.cathro@sd8.bc.ca

I moved to Kaslo more than 20 years ago and fell in love with the area, the people and this community.  My husband and I are raising our boys on our acreage on the outskirts of Kaslo where we grow our own food and manage the forests.  We enjoy hiking, camping, canoeing, skiing and playing hockey.  Over the years I have been involved in many organizations in Kaslo.  I am grateful to live and work in such a great community.

I grew up in North Bay, Ontario and completed a BSc in Biogeography at the University of Toronto.  When I graduated I went tree planting and travelled throughout Central and South America.  I went back to school and received a Bachelor of Education from the University of B.C and started to teach French and provide learning support for elementary students.  I am now working on a Diploma in Special Education from Queen’s University, to better support our students with special needs.

In my role at Case Manager I help support our students, develop students’ programs and create Individualized Educational Plans.  I am part of the School Based Team that meets weekly to develop solutions for issues that arise in the school.
