Please note the following details regarding school closures.

For closures that occur prior to the beginning of a school day…

  • School Administration will contact our Director of Operations and/or the Superintendent to discuss the issue and for the Director to make a decision about closing the school or not.
  • If the Director and/or the Superintendent makes the decision to close school for the day, the following will occur.
  • School Administration will post on our Website- which is pushed to the App- information about the school closure.
  • School Administration will email all families of the closure.

  • School Administration will phone our bus contact people who will phone their list of busing families.  The contact people will let School Administration know who was unable to be reached.
  • Depending on the situation, our school phone line may not have reception. 
  • Any updates will be emailed and posted as they are determined.  If it is possible that there will be another closure day the following day, this will not be messaged until confirmed by the director.

For closures that occur once a school day has already begun…

  • School Administration will contact our Director of Operations and/or the Superintendent to discuss the issue and for the Director to make a decision about closing the school or not.
  • If the Director and/or the Superintendent makes the decision to close school for the day, the following will occur.
  • School Administration will send an email out to all school contacts including groups who have rented rooms for that day to let them know what is happening and will also put this information on our website.
  • Each elementary teacher (or another adult in the class) will be responsible for calling each of their class’s families.
  • Students are not to use our school phone lines as we only have four lines.
  • Secondary students can text or call (on their own mobile) their parents. Grade 8 and 9 students will show their parents’ responses to their teachers so that their plans are clearly known.  Grades 10-12 students will communicate with their teachers of their plans as communicated with their families.
  • Each bus will have an adult with the class lists to confirm which students can get on the bus.
  • Any students whose parents or emergency contacts have not been reached will be assigned to a staff person to wait, if possible, at school. If school is not an option for some reason, an alternate location will be determined and this information will be shared on our website.
  • Any updates will be emailed and posted as they are determined.  If it is possible that there will be another closure day the following day, this will not be messaged until confirmed.
